THE FORTUNETELLING WIZARD SERIES IN ORDER:
1: The Fortunetelling Wizard and Other Stories From the Kingdom of Dar
2: The Fractured Mountain
3: The Messhlun Mission
4: The Minotaur of the Benel Labyrinth
THE WITCH OF BENEL SERIES IN ORDER:
1. The Witch of Benel (Same world, new series – featuring Sha-li who is introduced in The Minotaur)
2. The Spellbinder from Pel-rezlata (Book #2 in The Witch of Benel Series!)
*The Fortunetelling Wizard books can stand alone. However, for the most thorough experience of the world and characters the order listed above will serve a reader best.
*The Witch of Benel can be read without having read any of The Fortunetelling Wizard tales. While true, Sha-li is, nevertheless, introduced in The Minotaur of the Benel Labyrinth where she is seen through Hol’s eyes. The Spellbinder of Pel-rezlata will make most sense if read after The Witch of Benel.
THE FORTUNETELLING WIZARD AND OTHER STORIES FROM THE KINGDOM OF DAR
https://books2read.com/TheFortunetellingWizard
Stories include: The First Fortune, The Mishap at the Wizard Assembly, The Disaster at the Tene Market, and The Fortunetelling Wizard.
In the kingdom of Dar, wizards are known by the tunics they wear.
It is common knowledge that tunics are made from wild magic. A len who catches, tames, and puts on a tunic is a wizard. And a wizard is named and known by his deeds. Take Duin the Fearless or Bjarne the Vengeful as examples.
The wizard Hol has been called Hol the Proud by his mother, Hol the Loyal by the queen, and Hol the Upstart by the other wizards of Dar. His biggest fear is that he’ll be remembered as Hol the Failed.
His tunic has its own opinions about what he should be called.
In fact, his tunic has opinions about everything.
If it has its way, he will be known as Hol the Fortunetelling Wizard.
But there hasn’t been a fortunetelling wizard in Dar in over eight hundred years, and because Hol didn’t actually catch or tame his tunic, he fears even more that he might not even be a wizard at all.
THE FRACTURED MOUNTAIN – A Fortunetelling Wizard novella available now!
https://books2read.com/TheFracturedMountain
Never in his years as a wizard has Hol been unable to get a being to speak with him or with his tunic. So, when he answers a call to prevent a fractious mountain from splitting itself and its surroundings in two and it refuses to tell him why, Hol is flummoxed.
Neither sweet talking nor conciliatory magic work. Not even the neighborly wichtlein—a mountain expert—knows what to do.
As earthquakes and avalanches threaten them all, Hol’s tunic offers an unwelcome solution: bind the mountain with or without its permission.
With the enraged mountain imperiling the entire region, Hol must choose whether to use the domineering wizardry magic he’s been warned away from his entire life or allow the mountain to destroy all it can reach.
THE MESSHLUN MISSION – A Fortunetelling Wizard novella available now!
Includes the Bonus Story: The Consort Festival of Central Nethe
https://books2read.com/TheMesshlunMission
It is common knowledge that the ways of dragons are their own. Everyone knows this. But even so, when the citadel of Messhlun, the kingdom north of Dar, is overtaken by dragons it isn’t clear why or what exactly it is that they want.
What’s even less clear is why the dragons won’t negotiate with the local wizards.
What’s even less clear than that is why they’ve asked for Hol the Fortunetelling Wizard by name.
But, since it is equally common knowledge that the ways of wizards are also their own, it comes as no surprise to anyone that Hol and his tunic are curious and foolish enough to go find out.
THE MINOTAUR OF THE BENEL LABYRINTH – A Fortunetelling Wizard novella available now!
Includes the Bonus Story: The Calamities of the Cursed Caravan Company of the East Meadows
https://books2read.com/TheMinotaurOfTheBenelLabyrinth
It is common knowledge that young bull minotaurs cannot resist unclaimed labyrinths, but it is certainly less of a common practice for a young bull minotaur to demand a city’s heir as a sacrifice when he comes to claim his labyrinth rights.
The deadline is dawn. The heir must be sacrificed or the minotaur will raze the city to the ground.
As the time runs out, the city despairs.
And yet, before the worst can happen, the wizard Hol arrives to stand in the heir’s place.
But what can a fortunetelling wizard do against a rampaging minotaur?
With the labyrinth working against him and the nearby forest conspiring his demise, can Hol dissuade the minotaur from his destructive path or will Hol, his tunic, and the heir become the minotaur’s latest casualties?
THE WITCH OF BENEL – First Book in The Witch of Benel Series!
https://books2read.com/TheWitchOfBenel
If twenty-year-old, magic-filled Sha-li could make it back home, she’d cast a curse on the wizard who banished her. But, if she leaves the company of the witch she’s been apprenticed to, she’ll lose the chance to learn what power she has and what she can do with it.
Best-case scenario, once she’s been trained, she’ll actually be able to cast her own curses. Worst case, she’ll return to find her best friend dead and magic truly suppressed.
Torn between the desire to act first and think later as she’s always done and the chance she has to sit at the feet of one who knows more than she does, Sha-li struggles against her own strong personality, magical ignorance, goblins, and banshees. Even as she does, she knows she can’t waver forever on the choice of whether or not to stay. She’ll have to decide, and soon, if magic is worth any of this trouble.
THE SPELLBINDER FROM PEL-REZLATA – Second Book in The Witch of Benel Series!
https://books2read.com/TheSpellbinderFromPel-rezlata
If rock-throwing, magic-filled Sha-li didn’t keep her promises, she’d abandon the witch she’s apprenticed to and go hunt down the curse-wielding dragon she swore to find. But her word means something to her and she’s determined to stick out her education.
Everything is going fine. Just irritatingly fine until she’s forced into a magical agreement with a seed-planting len from the north end of nowhere.
The problem is, the terms for the agreement are vague at best and stupidly restricting at worst.
She’s not going to be tied to the len or her teacher forever, but the question is, does she have the magic it will take to break free without breaking her word or her promises?
